We choose quality

Raw materials

Without first-rate materials to start from, a top quality final product cannot be guaranteed. This is why we only use board purchased from the main national and continental paper mills. We process both recycled boards, the result of a circular economy process, and boards composed of virgin fibers that follow strict forest management requirements. We only use low-odor, low-migration plant-based inks to ensure compliance with food and environmental regulations.

ICIS processes 28,000 tons of the main types of solid board every year, from recycled to virgin board, from Kraft board to pure cellulose board, according to the characteristics requested by customers. Each incoming batch of board is tested to ensure that it conforms to the production requirements. We are able to manage the chains of custody of materials from responsibly managed forests with sustainability criteria.

True to the principles of environmental sustainability that we have always pursued, we prepare the inks used for printing in-house. We only use low odor and low migration inks containing plant and non-mineral oils, suitable for food contact. The color formulations are created using a spectrophotometer and a colorimetric station in order to guarantee the perfect matching of the color to the customer’s expectations, also in relation to the type of board used.

Mixing station

In this station we can quickly and accurately prepare any color ink in the exact quantities required in the printing process, so that there is no excess or waste.
The system integrates a mixing station and a spectrophotometer colorimeter that allows us to reproduce the required shade and mix it immediately starting from concentrated bases.
The system recognizes the job order through a historical database that accurately identifies the quantity of ink needed to print the production job.

We start from the drawing through to the creation of prototypes and packaging samples, on which the necessary technical validation checks are carried out. Each incoming raw material is verified by checking that the mechanical characteristics of the batch meet the requirements of the production job to which it has been assigned. We carry out checks on the auxiliary products needed in production. The Robinson test, which is used to check that the board does not alter the taste of the food product it will contain, is fundamental.
